Internet of Things (IoT) Security Has Become A Vital Component In Organizations, As The Number Of Cyberattacks Are Increasing Around The World
Internet of Things (IoT) Security |
Internet of Things (IoT) Security is a critical component of an
organization's cybersecurity strategy. IoT devices collect large amounts of
data, which are then aggregated and monitored. This data is used to identify
suspicious behavior. It is therefore important to develop and implement policies
for IoT devices. Along with these policies, organizations must also regularly
perform inventory and analysis of their connected devices.
In Internet
of Things (IoT) Security, penetration testing is one of the main
tools for identifying vulnerabilities in IoT software. However, static code
analysis can also reveal flaws. For example, a simple search engine such as
Shodan can be used to discover unprotected devices. Using a combination of
dynamic and static testing can help find well hidden vulnerabilities.
Encryption is also a good way to protect data. When an IoT
device communicates with back-end systems, a public/private key encryption solution
should be applied. These keys should be stored in non-volatile memory in order
to prevent data loss. An organization should also consider a Virtual Private
Network (VPN). A VPN can be a good way to add additional security to the
network.
Authentication mechanisms are another important component of
Internet of Things (IoT) Security.
Various authentication methods can be used, including digital certificates and
multi-factor authentication. Organizations should ensure that only valid users
have access to the data.
The use of strong passwords is a good way to secure IoT
endpoints. However, the default passwords on many IoT devices are very easy to
compromise. Attackers can use a list of passwords to brute force the device. Thus,
IoT vendors and users must update the passwords in a timely manner. The use of
strong default passwords and other security measures is crucial to IoT device
management. Default devices offer a number of advantages, however, it is also
very important to swap these defaults within IoT devices. In March 2022,
Firedome entered into partnership with the IT services arm of Hitachi Group,
Hitachi Solutions Create, Ltd. With this partnership, HSC will be reselling Internet
of Things (IoT) Security Platform of Firedome in Japan.
