  Sarcopenia Treatment Sarcopenia is characterized by progressive and generalized loss of skeletal muscle mass and strength and it is strictly correlated with physical disability, poor quality of life, and death. The main cause of sarcopenia is the passage of time and ageing, as the motor neurons in the body gradually die and no longer communicate commands to the brain. Sarcopenia is associated with functional impairments in tasks such as lifting 10 pounds or standing up from the chair and physical disabilities such as not able to perform home chores and personal care.
