Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is natural gas that has been cooled to a liquid state, at about -260° Fahrenheit, for shipping and storage. LNG is a colorless and odorless liquid, which is formed by cooling natural gas to -1620C. Liquefied natural gas can be used in a variety of ways in both residential and commercial settings. It can be used for cooking, generating electricity, heating homes, manufacturing products like medicines, fertilizers, and paints, and occasionally fueling commercial vehicles. LNG is an emerging fuel due to its cleanest burning nature as compared to diesel, petrol, and other fuels. Thus, L iquefied N atural G as is now being used as a fuel for commercial vehicles. CNG and LNG are considered alternative fuels under the Energy Policy Act of 1992. According to the United States Department of Energy (DOE), natural gas powers over 175,000 vehicles in the U.S. and roughly 23 million vehicles worldwide.
