Telemetry; The Science Or The Process Of Collecting Information About Objects Remotely

Telemetry

Telemetry is the automatic measurement and wireless transmission of data from remote sources. It is a subset of monitoring and refers to the mechanism of representing the data provided by the monitoring tool. Telemetry can be viewed as agents that can be programmed to specific monitoring data. Telemetry is defined as the process of data maintained by a system being collected remotely through the use of agents and protocols. The data extends to and includes all metrics, logs, events, and traces that are created by the applications.

Telemetry involves sensing and measuring data at a remote source and transmitting that data to a central location; at the monitoring station. Telemetry is used to monitor the internal functioning of various objects. It can record the data on position, altitude, speed, air pressure, radiation, and more. Weather forecasters use telemetry to map out patterns of weather. Astronauts on the space shuttle use telemetry system to monitor their conditions and meet range safety flight termination criteria. Telemetry also allows robust data collection and delivery to centralized systems.

In a centralized system, Telemetry can be effectively used to analyze and understand data. Big data technologies and strategies are changing the way telemetry is used. These techniques can aggregate vast amounts of unstructured data and generate detailed reports and intelligence for any industry. Increasingly, organizations are relying on applications to execute business. Telemetry is often used in testing hostile environments which are dangerous to humans. For instance, deep sea, volcanoes, radioactive sites, munitions storage facilities, and outer space.

Thus, there is an increase in demand for Telemetry services worldwide. In August 2022, SignalFire Wireless Telemetry received the approval from the Mexico’s Federal Telecommunication Institute (Instituto Federal De Telecomunicaciones) for the use of its 900 MHz wireless products. SignalFire telemetry helps users to digitally transform their operations using existing or new sensors without running wires, cables, and/or conduit.
