Bicycle; Essential to Move People and Goods in Areas Where There Are Few Automobiles

Bicycle

A Bicycle, also known as a cycle or bike, is a motor-powered or human-powered, pedal-driven, single-track vehicle, having two wheels attached to a frame, one behind the other. The rider sits on the seat and places the feet on the pedals to ride a Bicycle. When the rider pushes on the pedals, the back wheel turns. This moves the Bicycle forward. Cycling is a healthy and low-impact exercise for people of all ages. Cycling helps protect people from serious diseases such as heart attack, stroke, some cancers, diabetes, depression, obesity, and arthritis.

A Bicycle is the most environmentally friendly form of transportation. Unlike cars, it does not use fossil fuels or contribute to pollution. A Bicycle uses the energy generated by the user to propel itself. One can ride a Bicycle anywhere they want, even if they have to lug it around. It is also the cheapest and easiest way to get around town. The Bicycle's frame is constructed of heavy steel or alloy steel. The construction of the frame is continually improving. The material used for wheels is more durable, rigid, and lightweight.

The emergence of alloy steels and plastic binders allowed the production of lightweight frames. Bicycle's triangular shape helps distribute the weight of the rider's body between the front and back wheels. Bicycles were introduced in the nineteenth century in Europe and now number more than a billion worldwide. Over the years, materials have changed as well as wheel and tire technology has evolved, but the history of the Bicycle as a technology for transportation, rather than a hobby for the elite, started here.

The number of cyclists/Bicycle riders across the world has increased over the years. More than 870,000 people in the United States commute to work by Bicycle, that is around 0.6% of all workers in the country, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
