Privacy Concerns, Home Healthcare Services, And Expensive Medications Are All Factors That Could Slow The Growth Of The Medical Adherence Market In The Future.

Medical Adherence

Medical adherence refers to a patient's compliance with prescribed drugs in the recommended doses and time frames. Medical noncompliance can lead to serious complications. Unawareness about medications among the general population is a major issue that leads to health problems that could otherwise be avoided with proper medical adherence. According to data published by the American Heart Association Inc. in 2016, nearly three out of every four people do not take their medications as prescribed, resulting in approximately 125,000 deaths in the United States each year. Medical non-adherence is primarily caused by patients' forgetfulness about taking medications on time, high medication costs, and a lack of public awareness about the importance of timely medication consumption.

The increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, increased smartphone adoption, increased demand for personalised healthcare technologies, and advances in medicine will drive growth in the future. Privacy concerns, home healthcare services, non-medical apps and reminders, and expensive medications are all factors that could slow the growth of the Medical Adherence Market in the future. During the forecast period, the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases such as asthma, COPD, diabetes, and cancer is expected to contribute to the growth of the medical adherence market. Chronic diseases, for example, are expected to affect 164 million Americans by 2025, accounting for nearly half (49%) of the population. The rising prevalence of chronic diseases can be attributed to a variety of factors, including sedentary lifestyles, deteriorating air quality, and rising pollution levels, to name a few.
