A Radio Test Set helps to successfully diagnose the operation of radio systems by demodulating and modifying RF (radiofrequency) signals from various sources. General wireless radio, military radio, portable communication devices and a host of other mobile radio transmitters all need signal interference testing conducted with a good quality radio test set. These devices are designed to test a broad range of radio transmission frequencies from a variety of sources.

Radio Test Set can easily measure such parameters as strength and frequency diversity. They are used for both office and home applications, from simple single channel radio receivers to complete global system networks. A perfect signal tester should be able to provide high-resolution RF amplitude response measurements in the whole spectrum, from the smallest low level sample voltages to the largest modulation levels.

The most common test targets include general wireless media, personal computers, television, personal radio, vehicle, microwave, and other wireless media, outdoor power lines and antenna systems. Typical RF sources include: mobile phones, personal electronic appliances (P appliances), vehicle door openers, and others.

An ideal digital Radio Test Set will provide a comprehensive range of test features, including both power and frequency discrimination. Most often, these are two independent parameters, but sometimes a combination is desirable. The power characteristic may measure the RF power generated by the transmitter and received by the receiver. The frequency characteristic measures the power radiated by the transmitter, and is often measured in half-cycle increments. For instance, if the test application requires a one-step test for all channels, the RF output power level will always be equal to or greater than zero.
