X-ray; a Noninvasive Medical Test That Helps Physicians Diagnose and Treat Medical Conditions

X-ray

An X-ray is an imaging technique used to examine the body. It is mainly used to look at the bones and joints. X-ray beams pass through the body and are absorbed in different amounts depending on the density of the material they pass through. While X-rays are linked to a slightly increased risk of cancer, there is an extremely low risk of short-term side effects, such as vomiting, fainting, bleeding, hair loss, etc. It is a form of electromagnetic radiation used for a variety of applications in the medical field. X-ray is used to monitor, view, and diagnose bone fractures, abdominal pain, cancer, infection, and joint injuries.

Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide. Mexico is a country with a high prevalence of risk factors associated with the onset of cancer, such as smoking and alcohol use. Breast cancer is one of the leading cause of cancer-related death and disability among Mexican and Japanese women. The incidence of breast cancer has continuously and rapidly increased over the last three decades, and thus, there is an increasing demand for X-ray, an imaging technique, across the globe. Mammograms are commonly used to screen for breast cancer.

A mammogram is an X-ray picture of the breast. Doctors use a mammogram to look for early signs of breast cancer, sometimes up to three years before it can be felt. Mammography uses X-rays to produce an image of the breast. 3-D mammography creates a three-dimensional view of the breast tissue. Moreover, it is better than regular 2-D mammography at detecting masses in dense tissue. This type of imaging involves exposing the breasts to the small amount of radiation to obtain pictures of the inside of the breasts.

Some of the X-ray technologies include mammography, X-ray radiography, fluoroscopy, and computed tomography. X-ray radiography is used to detect dental problems, foreign objects, injuries, and bone fractures. Computed tomography is used to produce detailed images of the body, while live X-ray images on monitors are offered through Fluoroscopy. Thus, there is an increasing demand for X-ray technologies worldwide.
