Industrial Water Management refers to a set of complex and crucial processes undertaken by companies for the purpose of maximizing productivity, improving quality of performance, and preventing environmental pollution. Water is used in almost all industries that involve energy production. For instance, thermal power, refining, and wastewater treatment are all required to process raw materials and transform them into utilizable energy or other products. Water management takes care of the supply, transmission, collection, and distribution.

Industrial Water Management is the act of developing, managing, transmitting, and maintaining the optimum utilization of available water resources. It is also an important aspect of overall water cycle management. In the industrial sector, water consumption is generally high during manufacturing and processing; the wastage of this water is therefore of great concern. Industrial Water Management helps in maintaining the wastage at minimum levels thus contributing towards energy savings and environmental protection. Industrial water management systems ensure optimal efficiency by assuring the correct functioning of all the aspects of the plant. They are developed for various purposes such as industrial cooling, air conditioning, and heating, pumping, water treatment, purification, desalination, fluid transportation, and reclamation. They include both fixed and mobile components.

Fixed components include cooling towers, thermal power units, pump and filter sets, thermal insulation panels, etc. While on the other hand, mobile components include pipelines, conveyor belts, valves, drainage systems, transport systems, etc. With the increasing pressure of water demands worldwide, the intelligent technology developed to fulfill the industrial sector's growing needs is being used. The intelligent real-time supply chain solutions, which are incorporated in the smart water management systems make use of the latest information and input from various sensors to monitor the supply of water and its condition. This helps in improving the operational procedure and in improving the productivity of the industrial sector.
