It is also used by many researchers in education to help them understand the human interaction in large groups.

Crowd Analytics can also be performed using computer vision techniques. Computer vision refers to using computer hardware and software to examine the visual behavior of an object or group of objects. This type of crowd analytics is commonly used in marketing research to evaluate product brand image and customer behavior. The main disadvantage is that this form of crowd analytics can only be performed with physical samples and without the use of complex computer software and hardware. Therefore, it can be difficult to use this form of crowd analytics if the crowd is made up of manually collected data gathered from a location where there is not much technological infrastructure available.

In a region such as the U.S., the prevalence of media companies has increased the usage of crowd analytics. For instance, according to WebFX, there are six media companies in the U.S. that own all the major media outlets and are called The Big 6. Crowd analytics can be used to study crowds using mathematical methods. This is one of the most popular methods for studying crowds because it has a high rate of accuracy and uses mostly physical samples. The mathematical crowd analytics can also be used to study non-physical crowds such as those that occur due to human error, surveillance, or crowd explosion. Many crowd modeling techniques also allow for a high rate of precision. The main challenge with using the computing power for crowd analytics is its high cost. The high cost of this form of crowd analytics makes it more challenging to implement in the field.
