Halal Products; a Product That Is Acceptable or Permissible In Accordance With Islamic Law

The demand for Halal Products has seen a huge increase in recent times. This is attributed to a huge increase in demand from end-use industries such as meat, processed food, and beverages. Halal products are also used in various end-use industries, such as pharmaceutical, healthcare, and cosmetics and personal care products. Halal cosmetics refer to skincare products that do not contain any ‘Haram’ ingredients such as animal fats and by-products or alcohol. In simple words, these products are free from ingredients that are forbidden by the Islamic religion.

As the demand for Halal Products continues to grow, both Muslim and non-Muslim consumers will be seen carrying out their own inspections of ingredients, both to understand more about the process and to ensure that they are buying the highest quality. Consumers may also want to check the halal certificate to ensure that the ingredients are indeed Halal. A Halal Certificate, when accompanied by the proper documentation, ensures that the ingredients are genuine, and if genuine, that the methods used in their production to meet with Islamic requirements.

Halal Products are certified by the Islamic Religious Department in some parts of the world. Halal certified product means that the product is acceptable or permissible in accordance with Islamic law. For products to receive this certification, they must be from an acceptable source such as a cow or chicken and must be slaughtered in accordance with these laws. The ISWA (Islamic Society of the Washington Area) is a Halal certification body, which adheres to Halal and Food Safety standards and is recognized as Halal Certification Body worldwide.

The ISWA is managed by the United States Halal Chamber of Commerce, Inc., which assures compliance with all Islamic Diet and Shariah Laws. Halal products, such as halal-certified food and pet products, generally need to be produced according to the most stringent animal protein standards. Moreover, new standards are being developed by the European Committee for Standardization for halal-based products to prevent individual member states from creating their own national halal standards.
