Metabolic Testing Has Become A Widespread Practice That Helps People Understand Their Bodies And How To Improve Their Functioning

Metabolic Testing

Metabolic Testing is a health assessment process that helps people understand their bodies and how to make them function better. There are a variety of reasons why people want to undergo metabolic testing, including weight loss and improving their overall fitness. Previously, metabolic tests were only available in medical settings; however, cost-efficient equipment and procedures have made them easier to access at fitness centers. Along with helping determine the VO2 Max, these tests also help identify the best exercises and workouts for patient.

VO2 Max Testing (also called aerobic capacity) measures how much oxygen the body uses while exercising. It is especially helpful for athletes to assess their performance and training regimens.

A Metabolic Testing measures the body’s ability to burn calories as energy, using oxygen. The amount of energy a body uses is referred to as the metabolic rate, and is determined by factors such as age, gender, body composition, hormone levels and activity.

Metabolic testing also measures the maximum volume of oxygen, or VO2 max, which determines how well the body can use oxygen during exercise. This can help identify the optimum intensity for burning fat, improving cardiovascular health and increasing the endurance.

VO2 max is usually performed while the patients are performing an aerobic activity such as walking or running on a treadmill. During this test, they will breathe into a mask attached to a machine that can measure their heart rate and oxygen flow.

Resting metabolic rate, or RMR, is another type of test that is used to determine how many calories one consumes when they are not doing any physical activity. The results of this test are used to calculate the target caloric zone, which consists of the number of calories the body needs to maintain a healthy weight and to achieve the athletic goals. In March 2022, Levels, the first biosensor system that gives real-time feedback on lifestyle and nutrition, launched a new product, the Metabolic Health Panel, a blood testing service that includes a set of eight lab tests to help indicate a more precise picture of metabolic health.
