Advantages And Importance Of Using Plywood In The Construction Industry

Plywood

Unlike solid wood, Plywood is a composite material, made from thin sheets of wood veneer, glued together, and sandwiched with binders. The resulting panels are very strong and can be used for various purposes. They can be used for shelving, cabinets, furniture, flooring, walls, and even scaffolding. It can be used in many DIY projects and is popular for its low cost.

The three basic types of Plywood are structural, flexible, and marine. Each of these types is designed for a specific application. Structural one is used for building foundations and sheathing surfaces. The panels are designed to be earthquake-resistant. The panels can be waterproofed during construction. Plywood are also used for roofing and exterior sheathing. All-around one is made with a center veneer and cross-grained veneers on the outer and inner surfaces. This type of ply is known to be very strong and is often used for shelving, frames, doors, and other structural uses. The ply is also soft enough to hold nails.

Flexible one is used for curved parts of construction frames. This type of Plywood is also known as "hatters ply" in England. Typically, the plywood is a thin sheet of veneer, but it can be thicker. These sheets are often made of tropical timber from Malaysia, Indonesia, or the Philippines.

They are also known to be durable and resistant to insects and decay. It is made from woods such as spruce, mahogany, birch, or tropical pine. The most common type of Plywood is OSB (Oriental Softwood Board). This type of ply is made from compressed wood flakes and uses waterproof adhesive to join it together. OSB is used for roofing and exterior sheathing and is sometimes compared to particle board. It is used in construction because of its excellent strength properties. This type of ply is also used for boating applications. It is a great substitute for solid wood.
