Paper Packaging Is A Cost-Efficient, Biodegradable, Lightweight And Versatile Option For Preserving, Protecting And Transporting Products

Paper Packaging

Paper Packaging is a greener alternative to plastic Packaging, as it does not require plastic or other materials to be recycled. It is a non-toxic, contamination-free, and safe option, so it is more environmentally friendly, as it can be easily recycled. Furthermore, it does not produce hazardous emissions and is biodegradable.

Paper-based Packaging also provides a higher level of flexibility in terms of design. Unlike plastic Packaging, Paper Packaging based materials allow a better display of a product's signature graphics, which contributes to the brand's story. The design flexibility also makes it easier to display products in retail settings. Further, paper-based Packaging can be used for a wide variety of applications, from shipping to display.

Besides preventing plastic Packaging, it also reduces the impact on the environment by contributing to the gross domestic product. Paper and paperboard Packaging are the oldest and most common form of Packaging for food. Despite its environmental benefits, it is not completely eco-friendly. This is because paper and paperboard are made from various toxic chemicals, which leach into the food chain during paper development, food consumption, and recycling.

Paper-based Packaging is also a cost-effective and recyclable option. Unlike plastics, paper-based Packaging is lightweight and can be customized to fit a specific product. The use of paper-based Packaging in the food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries is predicted to increase in the upcoming years.

Paper-based Packaging is produced from 90% recycled or reused materials. In Canada, this represents over seventy percent of all paper-based Packaging. Recycled materials are collected from supermarkets, factories, and curbside waste. Most Canadian boxes are made of recycled materials, with only a few mills using non-recycled fiber.

In January 2021, DS Smith installed an EFI Nozomi C18000 Plus digital printer at their factory in Lisbon. DS Smith is also planning to expand their offerings to their customers in Spain and Portugal.
