Smart Camera; a Camera with the Ability to Process Images and Interact With Other Devices
Smart Camera |
A Smart
Camera is a self-contained, standalone vision system with built-in image
sensor in the housing. Smart camera includes different components such as
memory, lenses, image sensor, display, processor, and some type of I/O. They
allow users to perform some added functions such as information sharing,
information extracting from captured image, and real-time video analysis. Both
the image sensor and the vision system can be integrated into a single piece of
hardware known as smart image sensor or intelligent image sensor.
The Smart
Camera have a huge capacity for inbuilt storage and battery.
Moreover, they have several field applications such as unattended surveillance,
code reading and verification, part sorting and identification, biometric
recognition, robot guidance, web inspection, non-contact measurements, and
detection of position and rotation of parts, among others. A smart camera allows users to perform some additional
tasks, apart from capturing an image, such as real-time video analysis,
information sharing, and information extracting.
More than recording footage and capturing
images, these devices come with added features like motion detection, face tag,
GPS, communication, geofencing, real-time viewing, and cloud storage to ensure
that the users get the most out of their security system. It is a
digital camera with more network
and connectivity specifications. They have many field applications such as rotation
of parts, web inspection, part sorting and identification, unattended
surveillance, robot guidance, biometric recognition, detection of position, non-contact
measurements, etc.
Wireless security cameras are often
referred to as smart cameras because they are controlled with an app on a
smartphone and integrate with smart home devices/systems. A smart camera can
track the happenings in home and uses Wi-Fi network to transmit the video to a
smartphone or cloud storage for the archive. Thus, there is an increasing
demand for them worldwide. For example, Smart cameras installed throughout the
Mexico and are connected through a Wi-Fi network to send surveillance
information to the police station.
