Virtual Reality (VR) Headsets are head-mounted devices that provide virtual reality for the wearer. They are extensively used with video games, as well as for simulators and trainers. VR is the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment. Instead of seeing a screen in front of them, users are immersed and able to interact with the 3D world. Virtual reality (VR) headsets use two displays (one for each eye) and also have lenses placed between the screen and the eye, which are used to focus and reshape the picture for each eye.

Virtual Reality (VR) Headsets create a stereoscopic 3D image by angling the two 2D images. They work through a combination of offset screens, lenses, and motion tracking technology to create a virtual or digital environment. The image or video placed on the screen of a VR headset is split into two parts to create a 3D perspective with an individual view for each eye. Virtual reality (VR) headset use a technology called head-tracking, which changes the field of vision when a person turn their head. The technique may not be perfect, because there is latency if the head moves too fast. Still, it provides an immersive experience.

Today the meaning of virtual reality has been expanded to embrace all possible applications and environments. Virtual Reality (VR) Headsets have been extensively used by video game enthusiasts, but now they are being used in several applications, such as trainers and simulators. A high definition audio system provide the user with a realistic experience. For those who enjoy playing first person virtual reality video games, the ability to literally feel like they are in the game makes the experience more interesting.

Virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR) is still a nascent industry worldwide but Japan is already a primary market and an innovator particularly in the gaming field. In Japan, around 90% of respondents aged 10 to 19 are aware of virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR), and most of them said they have already had personal experiences in this regard. In 2021, sales of virtual reality (VR) headsets are estimated to be 6.1 million units worldwide.
