Novel Breath Analyzer Test Helps Determine Coronavirus Infection in Under a Minute
Breath Analyzers, or breathalyzers have recently become a part of everyday life. With the increase in DUI arrests, it has become necessary to have a reliable tool to check whether a driver is impaired. Previously, the only way to check for alcohol impairment was to get the driver to a sober facility, where a specialized machine would be used to determine the alcohol level in the driver's blood. In some states, refusal to take the test or inability to breathe while being monitored made it impossible to obtain legal proof of alcohol impairment. Today, there are several options for the test of alcohol breathiness available in the market.
The most widely used method for determining alcohol impairment is the blood alcohol content or BAC test. The proper method of testing for alcohol impairment is to check how much alcohol is contained in the blood stream of a driver. This test is usually carried by using breath analyzers. The results of the Breath Analyzer will show the percentage of alcohol that has been absorbed into the blood stream. However, this method of measurement has several limitations and is largely based on the fact that a significant amount of exhaled air can also contain alcohol.
BAC involves gathering the blood of a driver while he/she is driving, and then analyzing the blood alcohol level in it. A .05% BAC legal limit is the most common in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Taiwan, and Turkey.
Recently, in May 2021, Singapore approved a Covid-19 Breath Analyzer test that aims to show whether someone is infected with the coronavirus in under a minute. Globally, as of 3:59pm CEST, 25 May 2021, there have been 167,011,807 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 3,472,068 deaths, reported to WHO. Such test can aid in rapid diagnosis of Covid-19.
