Germany Witnesses Launch of Remote Monitoring and Management Services for Glaucoma Therapeutics during Covid-19 Pandemic

When a group of eye nerves become damaged, resulting in loss of vision, glaucoma develops. In the majority of cases, Glaucoma Therapeutics include, laser trabeculoplasty and eye drops. Eye drops are normally prescribed by the doctor to begin treatment. Some eye drops are given simultaneously, while others are to be taken one at a time. If drainage is involved, additional medications such as eye drops and oral medicines will be prescribed to correct this problem. As with any medical treatment, it is extremely important to follow the doctor's exact instructions in order to prevent side effects or adverse reactions. Failure to do so can result in damage to the eye or even blindness.

New studies are being conducted to further understand the risks and benefits of various Glaucoma Therapeutics. For those who believe they have had an optic nerve event, a referral to a specialist in the field may be in order. In all cases, however, a doctor may treat glaucoma only if the patient is suffering from one eye only. Some people, for example, may only suffer from a loss in one eye, while other people may have both eyes affected.

Germany is witnessing launch of remote monitoring and management services for glaucoma during the Covid-19 pandemic. In June 2020, Implandata Ophthalmic Products GmbH, a digital health company, launched its web-based EYEMATE IOP-Tracking Service for remote monitoring and management of glaucoma care. Whether a patient is suffering from primary to lower eye pressure (ophthalmic surgery) or secondary lower eye pressure (chronic cataracts, diabetes), the goal of Glaucoma Therapeutics is to reduce the optical distortion and restore normal vision. A variety of intraocular pressure lowering procedures are currently available.
